In a recent post, we noted that Kat Mertsch has been adding a forehand to her repertoire. And good for her. Forehands are hard. They just don't come as naturally as a backhand for most of us.
In today's opening round of the 2025 PDGA Champions Cup, Mertsch threw an 88-foot forehand into the basket for a birdie. It was an impressive shot.
It happened on the par-three 14th hole. Mertsch faced a tough shot; she was far from the basket, and blocked by a large tree.
But Mertsch took aim, and looped a tight forehand that curved around the tree and sailed straight into the basket for a well-deserved birdie.
Congrats to Mertsch. Arguably the shot of the day for round one of the Champions Cup.
