As sweltering summer weather hit the East Coast this week, disc golfers in the Woodstock, New York area gathered for a ‘Heat Classic’ at the Gallis Hill disc golf course. And despite heavy humidity—and temperatures reaching 90 degrees—Scott Milici set a new course record of -8.
Gallis Hill is known for its sweeping cross-winds. Perched on a hilltop above Kingston, New York, the course overlooks much of the Hudson Valley. Milici occasionally struggled with his backhand in the day’s hot winds. But even with several errant drives, he cruised to victory. His strong putting—including multiple 20- and 30-foot birdies—set a new Gallis Hill record.
Finishing second and third at the Heat Classic were Steven Capozzola and Joe LaManna. The two had dueled head-to-head the previous day in a preliminary round at the nearby Timber Notch course. But even though the two had come prepared for Gallis Hill’s muggy weather, they could’t keep pace with Milici’s mid-round birdie streak.

The Classic was hosted by the Woodstock Disc Golf Club. The group is planning several more events this summer.
